Dr Leisa Barber

B. Health Sc/B. of AppSc (Osteopathy)

Grad. Dip/B. Psychology

Dancing since the age of three, Leisa has always been acutely aware that how we feel in our bodies affects how we feel in our minds.

Described as an empathetic, curious and playful practitioner, Leisa endeavors to build genuine rapport and trust with patients; brainstorming and problem-solving solutions together, that are meaningful and sustainable.

Leisa attained her Osteo degrees with distinctions, from RMIT University in 2015. During her time at RMIT, she taught anatomy and physiology wet laboratories, and palpation skills to first year Osteo students.

During a placement at a shoulder, knee and ankle orthopaedic hospital in Mumbai, India, Leisa observed surgeries and oversaw patients pre- and post-surgical rehabilitation protocols.

Leisa’s passion for the biopsychosocial model of health, lead her to undertake a Graduate Diploma of Psychology at Melbourne University. Enthralled by what motivates us as humans, Leisa took electives in developmental psychology, cognitive psychology, and the subconscious mind. Her key interest being how emotions and traumatic experiences are processed through the body, and how these may present as physical and mental pain.

Leisa has worked within multidisciplinary practices in Melbourne, Wagga Wagga (NSW) and the Victorian Alpine region. She has also worked within private and public residential aged-care, delivering their Pain Management Programs and making functional mobility recommendations.

The combined experiences of dance, osteopathic diagnostics, psychological principals and how aging is the compound of our previous choices, has led Leisa to return to her movement-based roots. She is currently studying Functional Movement Patterns and yin yoga.

Leisa meets each person with compassionate curiosity. Sharing her knowledge, realism and creation of a safe space to hear yourself, to truly be you - embodied.

Leisa is registered with AHPRA and Osteopathy Australia.
